2016 Concerto Competition Repertoire

CSMTA is pleased to announce the details of the 2016 Concerto Competition. 

Winners of the 2016 CSMTA Concerto Competition will be accompanied by the Metro State University of Denver Symphony Orchestra.   Complete competition rules and guidelines are found in the Student Activity Handbook, pp. 4, 10 and 11.

Winners' concert date:  Thursday, March 17th, 2016    7:30 P.M.
Location: King Center at Metro State University of Denver, 855 Lawrence Way, Denver
Application deadline: (Postmarked no later than) January 22, 2016
Ages:  8-19 (piano), 13-19 (other instruments)

Audition & Performance Repertoire:

Elementary Piano:  Age: 8–10 as of January 1st of the year of the activity.
M. Clementi: Op 36 No. 6  (Mvts. 1 & 2). Arranged for piano and orchestra by Douglas Townsend.

Junior Piano:  Age: 11–14 as of January 1st of the year of the activity.
W. A. Mozart: Concerto in A. K. 414   (Mvt. 1)

Senior Piano: Age: 15–19 as of January 1st of the year of the activity. (pre-collegiate)
R. Schumann: Concerto in Am Op 54  (Mvt. 1)
 
Wind Instruments & Percussion: (for 2016):
Age: 13-19 (pre-collegiate) as of January 1st of the year of the activity.
Instrument repertoire is provided by contacting the CSMTA Concerto Chair.  
The winner or honorable mention in this category is determined from the following instrument entries:   
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Alto Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Percussion.
